Note on the Design:
At Dark Matter Labs we are embodying a shift from Communication Design to Conversational Design. Stimulating a conversation, instead of directing by communication, also means to be transparent about the design’s intentions.
The design of this website includes big headers with videos and poems to slow us down. While the majority of the internet tries to be as frictionless and efficient as possible, we see this as a false goal imposed by an outdated system.
Slowing us down, gives us time to reflect, connect with all our senses and direct our attention with dignity and grace.
We did not design a logo for this project. Instead we transformed video footage of landscapes shaped by nature and gave them a distinctive color and texture. Our project won’t be identified by a fixed shape, but by a recognizable transformation process. This fluid approach to design, felt more true to our perspective on bioregions.
We hope you enjoy it and would welcome feedback on how you experienced this conversational style.
